Before treatment:
Ms.Tantono felt down 15 years ago, her right leg and ankle hurt, she was unable to walk normally and her condition became worse. Her legs were weak and painful. She felt down again 4 years ago and went to her local hospital and was diagnosed with a proplapse of the lumbar intervertebral disc. She took medicines and received acupuncture treatment without any effect. At present, her lower limbs are still painful with the left side worse. The sensation below her waist is bad. She takes a long time to walk and she needs help to go up and down stairs. She wanted a better treatment so she came to our hospital.
Her spirit and sleep are normal. She eats well but during sleep she sometimes she feels sick. Her defecation function is normal. Sometimes she has an urgency to urinate. She has hypertension, hyperlipoidemia and moderate fatty liver.
Admission PE:
Blood pressure 155 / 72mmHg, heart rate 92 beats / min, body temperature 36.7, breathing 20 times / min, height 156cm, weight 91kg. She has an obese figure but good nutritious condition. Her skin and mucous membranes had no jaundice and bleeding. The auscultation of lung breathing sounds were weak but without dry and wet rales. The auscultation of heart sounds was strong and regular, with no murmur in the valves. There was abdominal bulging. The liver and spleen were normal with palpating touch. The spinal physiological bending was normal. Her legs had no edema.
Nervous System Examination:
She was conscious and in good spirit. Her speech was normal. Her memory, calculation, and orientation were normal. Bilateral pupils were equal in size, D = 3.0mm, sensitive to light reflex, and the eye movement was normal. Bilateral forehead wrinkle were equal in depth. Her teeth were symmetrical. Her neck was soft and the strength to turn her neck and shrug shoulders was normal. The muscle strength of the arms was level 5. The muscle strength of the left leg was level 5-. The muscle strength of right leg was level 4. The dorsiflexion of right foot was weak. The muscle tension of all limbs was normal. Bilateral tendon reflex was weaker than normal.
Bilateral Hoffmann signs were negative, bilateral Babinski signs were positive. Part of the right side lower lumbar area had hypoglycemia. Straight leg raising test was negative. Bilateral finger-to-finger test, rapid rotation, finger-to-nose test, and knee-tibia-heel test were normal. The Romberg's sign was positive. It is difficult for her to stand on one foot managing about 3 seconds. The meningeal irritation sign was negative.
Treatment:
After the admission, Ms.Tantono had a complete examination. She received 3 neural stem cell injections and 3 mesenchymal stem cell injections to repair her damaged motor nerves, replace dead nerves with new injected stem cells, nourish nerves and improve blood circulation. She also underwent rehabilitation training.
Post-treatment:
After 14 days of treatment, Ms.Tantono has a more stable condition in her blood pressure. The pain in her legs has reduced. The muscle strength has improved. The muscle strength of left leg is now level 5, the muscle strength of the right leg is level 4+. The ability to stand on one foot has increased. She can now stand on left foot for 10 seconds and on the right foot for 3-5 seconds.
