Before treatment:
Li Zhen was presented with polydipsia, polyphagia, diuresis and weight loss 10 years ago. Her blood glucose level was high and she was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. She was prescribed gliclazide and diformin tablets to control her blood glucose level but the response was minimal. Average blood sugar level: 8-16mmol/L. Li Zhen would easily get tired and would often catch a cold. It was difficult for her wounds to heal. She had hypertension for 15 years, and the highest blood pressure reading was 185/105mmHg. She was prescribed Nifedipine Sustained-release tablets and enalapril to control the blood pressure. Average blood pressure: 120-165/75-100 mmHg. There is no history of other diseases or drug allergies.
Admission PE:
Bp: 165/95mmHg; Hr: 75/min. Li Zhen was alert and her speech patterns were good. She was in good spirits. Her skin was dry all over. The temperature of the lower extremities was lower than normal. The skin was without yellow stains or blood spots. The lining of the heart was normal. The heart rhythms were normal with no obvious murmur. The respiratory sounds in both lungs were clear, with no obvious rales. The abdomen was soft. The liver and spleen were normal. Neither feet had fallen arches. Fasting blood glucose level: 8.2mmol/L. Postprandial blood sugar level: 15.1mmol/L. The fatty liver was changed.
Nervous System Examination:
Li Zhen was alert and in good spirits. Her memory, calculation ability, orientation, comprehension and judgment were normal. The forehead wrinkle pattern was symmetrical. The tongue was centered in the oral cavity. The movement of both eyeballs was flexible and both pupils were sensitive to light stimuli. The soft palate could be raised normally. The neck was soft without opposition. The shoulders could be shrugged normally. The muscle power and tension of all four limbs were normal. The prior pain sensation in the extremities has decreased. The tendon reflexes in all four limbs have decreased. The bilateral palm jaw reflex was positive. The bilateral pathological sign was negative. The bilateral coordinated movements were normal. The meningeal irritation sign was negative.
Treatment:
Li Zhen was diagnosed with 1. Type 2 Diabetes and 2. Hypertension. She received all of the relevant examinations. She was given three mesenchymal stem cell treatments in order to initiate the repair and regeneration of the islet cells in the pancreas, activate the stem cells, stabilize the blood pressure, adjust the immune system, improve the circulation and nourish the neurons. During the treatment period, her mental state was stable.
Post-treatment:
At present, Li Zhen’s mental and physical condition are good. The skin condition has improved. The temperature of her extremities has returned to normal and the pain sensation in the extremities is nearly gone. The blood pressure and blood sugar level have been controlled. Fasting blood glucose: 5-7mmol/l, blood glucose two hours after eating: 7-9mmol/l. Blood pressure: 120-135/70-85mmHg.
