Before treatment:
Martin’s sucking function was bad when he was born, so his parents took him to see the doctor. The examination results showed no abnormalities. His motor function and cognitive function were underdeveloped compared to other children in his age groups. He was able to stand at 1 and a half years of age and he was able to walk at the age of 3. He had speech difficulties. He was depressed and emotional. He was diagnosed with autism by the doctors. He is not able to speak now, has cognitive difficulties and he is not able to understand some simple orders. He has no eye contact with others. Sometimes he attempts to hurt himself and others. He is not able to take care of himself. He is always excitable and he is not able to control his movements. His nutrition and fluid intake is normal. His sleeping pattern is normal.
Admission PE:
Bp: 90/58mmHg, Hr: 80/min. Br: 18/min. Temperature: 36.0 degrees. Weight: 34kgs, height: 120cms. Martin’s body type and nutritional status were normal. He had slow development. He had flat feet and his walking posture was abnormal. The respiration of both lungs was clear. There were no dry or moist rales. The heartbeat rhythm was normal and strong. There was no obvious murmur in the valves. The abdomen was soft and distended with no pressing pain or rebound tenderness. The liver and spleen were normal.
Nervous System Examination:
Martin was alert but in bad spirits. He was hyperactive. When he sat he always shook his head. His was emotionally unstable and would sometimes self-mutilate and act aggressively toward other people. He was able to speak a little, but only incoherently. He was not able to answer questions or do what he was asked. He didn’t communicate with others and he refused to make contact with others. He was not able to cooperate with the examinations of the memory, calculation abilities or orientation abilities. His comprehension and judgment were bad. He made no eye contact with others. His eyeballs were not positioned correctly. He didn’t cooperate with the muscle power or muscle tension examinations. The tendon reflexes of all four limbs were weak. He was not able to cooperate with the Hoffmann sign or palm jaw reflex examinations. The Babinski sign was negative. He was not able to cooperate with the neurologic examinations, sensation examinations, coordinated movement examinations or the meningeal irritation sign examinations.
Treatment:
After the admission, Martin was diagnosed with autism. He received 4 neural stem cell injections and 4 mesenchymal stem cell injections to repair his damaged nerves, activate his brain nerves, provide nutrition to the nerves, regulate his immune system, and improve his mood. This was accompanied with speech therapy and physical rehabilitation.
Post-treatment:
After 20 days of treatment, Martin was less hyperactive than before, he had less aggressive behaviours, he had more eye contact, and he began to pay attention to the environment around him. His ability to cooperate with the comprehension examination improved. He was able to perform some simple commands, he spoke clearly and he was able to speak some meaningful words.
